VP Leni Lied About Running for President in 2022?

In July 18, 2016 sa Bawal Ang Pasaway, a GMA7 News TV Hosted by Winnie Monsod, she was asked "As Vice President, you will not run for President in 2022?" She answered with a very straightforward, "NO".

Winnie Monsod followed up with another question, "Will you change it (change her mind in the future)?" Sumagot ulet si VP Leni ng 'NO'. She further explained, "I even told the President (Duterte), Mr President, sana po hindi kayo naniniwala sa mga talks on Plan B, of impeachment, kasi wala talaga akong balak maging Pangulo."

Winnie Monsod followed it up. "Why are you so sure that you're not running for Presidency in 2022?" VP Leni explained, "Now that I am Vice President at nag-ambisyon ako na maging President sa 2022, tapos na yung pagiging Vice President ko. All my efforts will be towards the 2022 elections already. I don't want that to happen."

I totally agree with her and she has the right intentions with the responsibility that goes with it. She was just officially proclaimed as Vice President tapos wala ka pang 1 month sa role mo tatanungin ka na kung gusto mo maging President in 2022. She really has a mindset of doing things one at a time and naintindihan niya that she needs to focus all her energy and efforts for the entire 6 years para gampanan ang role ng isang Vice President. 

For sure maraming magsasabing, ano ba ginawa niya for 6 years kasi parang wala naman. Don't worry, medyo mahaba-habang listahan at resibo meron si VP Leni so it will be discussed on a separate post.

Winnie Monsod continued with her interview and asked, "In other words sa 2022, you did all you can without thinking of being the President (will you change your mind and run for President?)."

VP Leni replied, "Being a Vice President is both an honor and responsibility." Char! Hindi yan. Eto ang totoong sagot niya. "Ang pagiging Presidente ay isang destiny. Pero sa aking po never ko talaga pinangarap na mag Congresswoman tapos ngayon Vice President. Ako palagay ko hindi yun kayang paghandaan. Nakita naman natin maraming naghanda para maging Vice President at maraming naghanda para maging President pero destiny talaga po yun eh, Kaya tingin ko po kung anong nakalaan para sa akin yun naman yung mangyayari."

Did she lie? SHE DID NOT. She said only DESTINY can tell what will happen in 2022. For sure she prayed for it, she asked for signs, she has a discernment what her inner self is telling her to do. Come 2022, with the support she's getting and a job well done for 6 years as Vice President, she announced her candidacy that she's running.

Sad to say, ang daming mahilig mag-spliced ng video trying to derail and malign her character. Unfortunately, Google doesn't forget. You'll just have to fact-check and read 2-3 articles about the topic from a reliable source to ensure that you're not spreading disinformation especially sa mga taong naniniwala agad sa mga 2-minute Tiktok videos or a meme and satires that should not be taken seriously.
